The Judge’s List (John Grisham) 🥇

The Judges List | Book Review | Book Of The Year

Book Of The Year 2021

This is my third John Grisham book this year, and each succeeding in outdoing the previous – when I always thought it couldn’t get better than this. It is the sheer brilliance of Grisham that makes each of his reads so riveting. The Judge’s List is an extremely intelligent book. It is Grisham at his best. The book is backed with a brilliant plot and makes for a chilling thriller.

The story revolves around Jeri, a lady in her mid forties, whose father was murdered some 20 years ago. She has ever since been digging through to find the murderer and put him to a worthy end. It makes for an extremely interesting read to see how she uncovers similar other murders in the process, and is able to link them all and pin down the crime to a sitting judge Ross Bannick – who …

Camino Winds (John Grisham) | Book Review

Camino Winds - John Grisham | Book Review

A beautiful setting in a quite little island. An intriguing set of people – all of whom were writers. And a bookstore that is the center of all activity in this little island. I don’t think I have picked a book with a more inviting premise than this in a long time, it is extremely appealing. The whole setting and the plot had me glued to this book instantly and I was left all the more impressed with the impeccable story-telling skills of Grisham – which I have always admired. It’s a very intelligent & unique story, told such wonderfully – that makes it an effortless read. You wouldn’t realize and you would find yourself 60% into the book in no time.

Almost everything in the initial half of the book gets you excited. 11 different characters from the literary field on an island, a hurricane that destructs the place …

Falling (T.J. Newman) | Book Review

Falling - T.J. Newman | Book Review

I have always been fascinated by airplanes from as far as I remember – probably most children are. An airplane with it’s gigantic size and roaring engines is such a beauty to watch, and as it takes off or lands – it looks so majestic! “Air Crash Investigation” on Nat Geo has been one of my favorite knowledge based shows. It just intrigues such a great deal to see what caused such a dream machine to meet a disaster, or maybe avert one. Thus, when I picked up this book, I had all these expectations of it – it would definitely be a crisis situation (maybe a technical failure, maybe a natural factor or maybe a hijack) and how the captain, crew & passengers come together to face it, and overcome it – with some heroic deeds that would stand tall – something like Titanic. I had for long been …

The Maidens (Alex Michaelides)

The Maidens | Book Review

This is not a book! This feels more and more like a motion picture as it takes you on a chilling journey, full of excitement, suspense, fear & anticipation. Alex Michaelides has a sure shot winner with The Maidens and I would be most keen to see if it replicates the success of his debut novel ‘The Silent Patient’. I for one had not read ‘The Silent Patient’, and so I had no benchmark to judge his latest work. Nor could I (thankfully!) draw a comparison with it. For me, this was a wonderful wonderful book deserving of all accolades & applause.

From the word go, the book has you on your toes. At the start I had thought it was probably an investigation into Sebastian’s death. But as the plot unfolds, it brings in such unexpected scenarios. To start with, the character of Henry – he embarks such a …
