‘Loka Chapter 1: Chandra’ Review:- This is a Malayalam film. Malayalam films are often rooted in the rich folklore of Kerala. Directors have long been making films based on Kerala’s folklore. It could be said that Malayalam films are deeply connected to Kerala’s folklore. However, it would be incorrect to call them solely folklore. Inspired by folklore, films in various genres, such as horror and fantasy, and with varied stories based on social contexts, have also been made for a long time. As a result, Indian folklore and Kerala’s culture have established a global presence through cinema.

Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra Review of this movie:-
Theater audiences said of the film, “Every scene in this film was excellent from the start. From the story to the death penalty, it’s a story that forces you to think.” Jacques’ performance in this film set the screen on fire. Kalyani delivers a superb performance, as does Naslaan, who can be called innovative. This film is essentially a fantasy/adventure film. The screenplay is commendable.
Combination of Kerala folklore and story:- The concept of the film “Loka” is remarkable. The story is said to be based on the tale of Kaliyankattu Neeli, one of the most famous characters in Kerala folklore. Kerala folktales were compiled by the 19th-century writer Kottarathil Sankunni. A key character in this collection is Neeli, a powerful Yakshi, or evil spirit. Neeli enters a forest called Kaliyankattu and seduces and consumes lonely, often upper-caste men. This character from the story has become quite popular over the past few decades and has been featured in numerous films. The story has deeply impacted the Malayali psyche.
Lokah director Dominic and actor-writer Shanthi Balachandran have transformed Neeli’s character into Chandra, a nomadic superhero who has for centuries protected the weak and empowered herself to punish the powerful. The story revolves around a superhero girl whose life takes a new turn when she discovers that she is no ordinary girl.
For all those movie lovers who didn’t get a chance to watch Loka in theatres, a modern take on the folk tale, a Malayalam thriller story that blends suspense, mystery and fantasy elements, is coming to your home TV on October 31. Get ready to watch Loka Chapter 1: Chandra on Jio Hotstar.
